HP Sauce recipe secretly changed after 116 years, and towel-headed chef Marco Pierre White isn’t the least bit happy about it. (pic)

“I was brought up on HP Sauce in Yorkshire. My old man used to say ketchup was for Southerners and HP was for Northerners. My father would turn in his grave if he discovered they changed the recipe.”

Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce - made from molasses, sugar, salt, anchovies, tamarind, onions, garlic and spices. It’s essential in a Bloody Mary or a Michelada beer cocktail and is widely used in South American cooking (known as salsa inglesa). It’s also great on steaks and is almost the best bit of a Welsh Rarebit (apart from the cheese, obviously. I fucking love cheese).

One can only imagine Mrs Darlington and her beautiful daughters as they gather around their traditional farmhouse kitchen, to add the final ingredient to their onion marmalade: a thumbleful of freshly expressed love.
